FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) --- On this day in Arkansas history, the first museum of its kind opened in Rogers in 1966, and a country singer was born in Van Buren in 1915.

First Daisy Airgun Museum dedicated

On Sept. 21, 1966, the first Daisy Airgun Museum opened in Rogers, featuring antique European airguns and early Daisy products from the 1880s.

Founded in 1882 as the Plymouth Iron Windmill Company, Daisy shifted from windmills to airguns after a steel BB gun prototype impressed company leaders, adopting the name Daisy in 1895, according to the museum's website.

The museum grew with the company, moving to downtown Rogers in 2000 and again in 2004 to the former Rexall Drug building on 2nd and Walnut streets.
