Edmonton police investigate suspicious death of 37

Authorities in Edmonton have launched a homicide investigation after a 37-year-old woman was found dead with suspicious injuries on Saturday.

At around 1 p.m., officers were conducting an investigation in the area around 100 Avenue and 111 Street, where they learned that a 37-year-old woman had died in hospital after arriving with what appeared to be suspicious injuries.

A 39-year-old man has been taken into custody. Investigators say the man and woman were known to each other.

Officials say the Homicide Section has now taken over the investigation.

An autopsy for the woman has been scheduled for Monday.

The investigation is ongoing.
