Kevin Snyder, the city of Chandler’s development services director, said 1985 was a year that had at least one sad event for him, as his beloved Boston Celtics lost to the L.A. Lakers in the NBA Finals that year, in six games.

But he mentioned this and other 1985 facts, at an Aug. 11 Chandler City Council meeting, in pointing out Ofelia Sesma started her career with the city that year as well.

Sesma was recognized for her four decades of service that has included work in Planning, Neighborhood Services, Site Development, Public Works and, since 2014, Development Services.

Snyder said her duties during her career have included administrative support, support for boards and commissions, processed permits, prepared documents and assisted with public-records requests.
