A violent and deadly weekend in Montgomery led to the city’s mayor calling for accountability, responsibility, and a “collective commitment to peace.”
Two men were killed and a third injured in a shooting Saturday night. Early Sunday, two women were stabbed, one of them fatally.
“This weekend, our community was shaken by senseless acts of violence that claimed lives and left families grieving,” Reed said Sunday. “Every life lost to violence is one too many, and every wound inflicted leaves scars on our city as a whole. We cannot and will not accept violence as the answer to our differences.”
Police and fire medics were dispatched at 7:40 p.m. Saturday to the 5100 block of Carmichael Road on a report of people shot.
Two males were pronounced dead on the scene, said Sgt. Tina McGriff. Th
