A vehicle fire has shut down Interstate 10 West at mile marker 11 near the Bonnet Carre Spillway, according to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development . Traffic congestion has stretched to three miles as of Sunday afternoon.

State officials advised motorists to avoid the area and take an alternate route until the interstate is reopened.
