BRONSON, Fla. (WCJB) - Levy County firefighters will have a less intense work schedule going forward.
County commissioners voted to give firefighters a schedule that involves 24 hours on the clock, then 72 hours off.
They said the new schedule lets them work 42 hours a week, down from 56 hours.
The change comes after a new state bill was passed, aiming to reduce the number of firefighter deaths and to improve their mental health.
