APPLETON, Wis. (WBAY) - Sunday marked the triumphant return of the Fox Cities Marathon.
Over 4,400 people are competing in this marathon and nearly 40% of them are first timers. And unlike a year ago, these first-timers get the full experience.
Poor weather conditions cancelled last year’s event; Sunday wasn’t exactly perfect, but more than good enough to run.
“A little warm, little humid, but yesterday when I looked at the weather, there was a chance of rain. I was a little worried about that. So, happy with that. And the course was really nice,” said Lukas Pierson, a runner from Cleveland.
Some runners look to challenge themselves. Some look to just finish, and some lean on their faith like Brooke Schemenauer from Kimberly, crossing the finish line first in the half marathon.
