MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) — A teenager was shot and a man was stabbed in the area of the Mexican Day Parade route on Sunday, according to police.

The shooting happened an hour after the scheduled conclusion of the parade near E 27th Street and Park Avenue, officials said.

The parade, which took place on Madison Avenue from 39th to 27th Streets, was scheduled to end at 4 p.m.

Officers responded to the area of the reported shooting at 5 p.m. and said a 17-year-old girl was shot in the shoulder. She was taken to a local hospital in stable condition, police said.

A person of interest was taken into custody for questioning shortly after, according to police.

Around the same time, a 24-year-old man was stabbed in the back at E 28th Street and Madison Avenue, according to officials.
