BANGOR, Maine — For years, the City of Bangor has struggled to recruit and retain bus drivers for its public transit system. But now, it's gotten to the point where the city has had to reduce service, impacting some routes.

Brian Wood and Ryan Levesque are both bus drivers, helping people in the greater Bangor area get to their destinations.

"It feels like you’re making a difference,” Wood said.

"People rely on us. They can't afford Ubers or taxis,” Levesque said.

The Community Connector serves thousands of people every year. Each ride is $1.50, and college students ride for free.

"I'm helping a lot of students, especially, just get to class,” Levesque said.
