LITTLE RIVER, SC (WMBF) - The sound of praise and worship rang inside Mt. Calvary #2 Missionary Baptist Church as it celebrated its 150th anniversary on Sunday.
The Little River Church was first built out of wood in 1875 and only 60ft long and 30ft wide.
After rebuilding over the years, the church now stands more than 11,000 square feet seating 750 people in the sanctuary.
The original church bell and corner stone still sit in front of the building.
While the church has transformed over the years, it has seen generations of families sit in its pews.
Deacon chairman Tony Gore said that he’s been attending the church since he was a little boy, and it’s amazing seeing old members and fresh faces celebrate 150 years.
