MACON, Ga. — It was a beautiful day out on the water for the dragon boat racers on Saturday , where 15 teams raced on Lake Tobosofkee to raise money for the Big Brothers, Big Sisters mentor program.

This was the 13th Annual Heart of the Dragon Boat Races , which began as a small community fundraising event. It has now become a premier Southeast paddling competition.

The Mekong Boat Club came all the way from Stone Mountain to compete.

They're actually a competitive team, and this was their second year. They placed first in the club division championship, and also the team spirit award.

More than 150 kids are on the wait list for the mentor program. The chapter in Central Georgia has been around for 72 years and serves 15 counties.
