The District 7 City Council race results remained the same after a recount Sunday, with Said “Coach” Ahmed and Miniard Culpepper pulling narrowly ahead of the other nine candidates again.

After the Sept. 9 preliminary municipal election, recounts were authorized in the District 7 race — petitioned for by third place finisher Mavrick Afonso — and the mayoral race — petitioned for by candidate Domingos DaRosa.

Though the District 7 race recount was finished Sunday, elections workers will return Monday to to finish the recount in the mayor’s race.

By the first count, Afonso was only behind Culpepper by 20 votes. After Sunday’s recount of four of the six District 7 wards, the margin widened to 25 votes.
