STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Mexican navy tall ship Cuauhtémoc embarked on its first sea voyage Wednesday since a fatal collision with the Brooklyn Bridge last spring, marking a critical test of the extensive repairs that followed the deadly crash.
The vessel departed Caddell Dry Dock & Repair Co. located in the Staten Island neighborhood of West Brighton around 2 p.m. Wednesday for a sea trial in the waters of the Atlantic near Manhattan, according to shipyard officials and a report published by the New York Post .
