The votes have been tallied and the boys winner of the Vermont Varsity Insider Athlete of the Week powered by Delta Dental is ... Rutland football player Gio Spallieri.

Spallieri collected 68.57% of the 12,706 votes cast in the boys contest . Spallieri, a junior, was nominated for the poll after leading a fourth-quarter comeback in a 33-30 victory over Burr and Burton, capped by his game-winning touchdown rush late in regulation. The Rutland QB finished with 253 yards and four touchdowns through the air.
