LITTLE CYPRESS, Texas — A woman was hospitalized Saturday afternoon after a house fire destroyed her home on Old Highway 87, according to Orange County Emergency Services District 3.

The fire department responded to 9600 Old Hwy 87 just before 2 p.m. Saturday after receiving reports of a structure fire. Fire fighters arrived to find the home heavily engulfed in flames with smoke coming from the building.

The homeowner and her two dogs escaped the blaze. No other injuries occurred during the incident.

Assistant Fire Chief Joey Ernest said the fire started in the garage and resulted in a total loss of the home. Two adults have been displaced by the fire.
