A Utica woman was killed after she was stabbed Sunday at a Meijer gas station in Shelby Township, and a suspect was in custody, police said.
Shelby Township police responded to a report of the stabbing at 5 p.m. at the gas station on Hall Road. They found a woman who had been stabbed.
She was hospitalized and later died of her injuries, the Shelby Township Police Department said in a press release.
A man from Utica suspected of stabbing the woman fled the scene but later was arrested by Macomb County Sheriff's deputies.
The man and woman "knew each other," police said. "This was not a random attack. There is no threat to the public."
An investigation is ongoing, police said.
