WILMINGTON, Del (WPVI) -- Police in Wilmington, Delaware, are investigating after a man was shot and killed Sunday.
It happened around 3:15 p.m. in the 900 block of New Castle Avenue.
What was supposed to be a Sunday afternoon of football turned into a scene of terror for families at Eden Park.
Parents and coaches, still too shaken to speak on camera, said the children witnessed "unimaginable trauma."
Referee Walt Boone, who was officiating the 10-and-under game, said he's exhausted by the toll of gun violence.
Police said a 36-year-old man was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died. He has been identified as Lamar Massas, according to police.
"People were running, screaming, looking for their children, trying to jump in their cars," Boone said.
