CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- Two people are in the hospital after a two-car crash in southwest Charlotte late Sunday night, according to the Charlotte Fire Department.

Crews responded to the intersection of Ed Brown Road and Steele Creek Road around 10:18 p.m. in response to a crash where one of the vehicles was fully engulfed in flames.

Charlotte Fire was able to extract two people from the second vehicle. Medic says both people were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Steele Creek Fire Department was also assisting Charlotte Fire. The incident was brought under control by 10:27 p.m.

No word on whether the driver or passengers in the other car were injured. The cause of the crash is not yet known.
