OMAHA, Neb. —

The Center for Immigrant and Refugee Advancement (CIRA) in Omaha held its first Welcome Fest on Sunday.

The event was on the last day of National Welcoming Week.

It's the Omaha organization's first-ever event that's free and open to the public, CIRA Community Engagement Director Khenda Mustafa told KETV.

"We think this is a beautiful time to bring neighbors together from across different backgrounds and celebrate what unites us and also what makes us unique," Mustafa said.

On top of live music, arts and crafts, and immigrants who shared their stories on stage, other local organizations that work to support immigrants and refugees set up booths.
