LEAVENWORTH, Wash. - A 30 mile stretch of US 97 over Blewett Pass is closed due to the Labor Mountain Fire, with no estimated time for reopening.
The fire has spread east toward the highway, raising safety concerns and causing road closures.
Chelan County Emergency Management issued Level 3 evacuations for Shaser Creek, King Creek and Culver Creek roads.
Travelers are advised to use US 2 Stevens Pass or I-90 for cross-state travel. However, expect longer travel times at the I-90 Vantage Bridge due to repair work.
The Labor Mountain Fire has grown to 7,618 acres with 7% containment. The fire is south of the Enchantments and west of Highway 97.
Smoke and fire activity are expected to continue, making travel hazardous.
