OMAHA, Neb. —
Sen. Pete Ricketts launched his official re-election campaign Sunday in Elkhorn, competing against independent candidate Dan Osborn for the November 2026 election.
Ricketts was joined by several Nebraska officials and introduced by Douglas County Prosecutor Don Kleine and Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen. KETV also spoke with Osborn, who previously ran for Sen. Deb Fisher's seat in 2024. Both candidates made it clear that the race starts now, with name-calling and pointed words.
Ricketts spoke about his support for the Big Beautiful Bill and national security.
"I'm kicking off my reelection here, and it's going to be a tough one," Ricketts said. "We still got more work to do with regard to getting a regular budget process in place so we can get our spending in control. And th
