In a hard fought battle featuring tons of scoring chances and mid-game schematic adjustments, the Michigan women’s soccer team came up just short against Southern California.

After a sloppy start for both offenses, the Wolverines (3-5-1 overall, 0-1-1 Big Ten) were unable to make the most of their opportunities, falling 2-1 to the Trojans (4-3-1, 1-1-0).

Michigan’s defense broke first, giving up a goal on a beautiful USC entry pass in the 23rd minute. It was the Trojans’ first legitimate chance of the night, and they capitalized.

The Wolverines seemed content to let USC dominate the time of possession out of the gate, and try and pick their spots for scoring chances. But after the Trojans’ first goal, that strategy went out of the window.
