After dropping both of the first two sets, Crisler Center rumbled as Notre Dame served, desperate to extend the third set of its match against the Michigan volleyball team. Instead of giving the Fighting Irish a fighting chance, the Wolverines ended the rally with an emphatic kill, capping off their sweep.
Michigan (10-1) swept Notre Dame (3-5) Sunday afternoon following what seemed to be a shaky start by the Wolverines. Still, they persisted. Relying on making meaningful adjustments and staying energized throughout, Michigan steadied itself and did not slow down the rest of the way.
“I really liked the adjustments that we came out with,” Wolverines coach Erin Virtue said. “It’s a very, very cool thing when you can say, ‘We’re going to upgrade these areas,’ and then do that.”
