MAPUNAPUNA, Hawaii (Island News) -- Kaiser Permanente workers held a rally in Mapunapuna on Friday amid growing anticipation of a vote to authorize a strike.
More than 1,900 Hawaii Kaiser Permanente workers are voting on whether to authorize a strike. A rally took place on Sept. 19 outside of the Kaiser Permanente Mapunapuna Medical Office where dozens participated.
For them the message is clear, they deserve a fair contract:
"Hawaii workers are being treated like second class citizens,” said Janna Yuen, Kaiser Permanente management assistant. “They deserve to be paid the same pay as our counterparts who also work in Hawaii and Kaiser and on the mainland.
