Steers made up the bulk of the 1400 head yarding, with strong competition from southern buyers out of Gippsland, Victoria and the Riverina.

South Coast Livestock agent Jason Gannon said cattle were lighter in weight and condition compared to previous sales .

While seasonal conditions were holding up well, he noted more rain would be needed to drive feed growth.
