BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - Celebrating a new link between Vermont and New York on this day in history.

People and dignitaries from both states gathered at the center of the new Rouses Point Bridge on September 22, 1987.

The bridge carries Route 2 from Rouses Point, New York, to Alburg, Vermont.

“Both sides of the lake will benefit from this new bridge, this new beautiful bridge,” said Governor Madeleine Kunin.

Also known as the Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge, the span replaced a previous bridge on the same spot that was built in 1937.
