National Baptists, new leadership address politics and women in pulpit

In the first time a woman preached at the National Baptist Convention, USA annual session, Rev. Tracey Brown criticized President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown and use of executive power.

“We’re living in a time when immigration policies are cruel and inhuman,” Brown, a New Jersey pastor, said in a Sept. 10 sermon, according to a video . “A time when the present administration at the White House has undermined the rule of law and democratic norms.”
