A Fayetteville legend has ridden off into the sunset.
Clyde Randy Boone, best known for his role in the classic TV western "The Virginian," died Aug. 28, 2025, his wife, Lana, told The Hollywood Reporter. He was 83.
Boone, born Jan. 17, 1942, in Fayetteville, had a starring role in television's first colorized western as singing cowboy Randy Benton. The show, which was set in the Wyoming Territory of the 1890s, aired from 1962 to 1971 on NBC.
