A question I won’t be asked this week: “Why do you have LSU football No. 1 in your Big Ten/SEC top 25?”
The Tigers beat Southeastern Louisiana 56-10 and dropped from first to fifth. Why? Because their two best wins – Clemson and Florida – are now bad wins. Those opponents are a combined 2-6.
1. Oklahoma: I’m not the first person to rank the Sooners No. 1. From what I saw in their victory over Auburn , SEC officials also favor the Sooners.
Oklahoma got a first-place vote from me. Officials got a reprimand from the conference office.
2. Georgia : The Bulldogs could ascend to No. 1 with a victory over Alabama on Sept. 27. And I like their chances − even though they have lost nine of their last 10 games to the Tide.
Georgia proved against Tennessee it could handle adversity.
