INDEPENDENCE, Ky. —

A suspect and a woman are dead and another person is in critical condition in what police are now calling a murder-suicide in Independence.

Independence police say they responded to the Taylor Ridge Apartments at 11:21 p.m. for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers say they found a man outside the apartments with an apparent gunshot wound.

Officials say the man was transported to the hospital in critical condition. He has been identified as 33-year-old Daylon Bradford.

Officers say they were advised that a suspect and an unidentified woman fled to the nearby woods. A perimeter was quickly established and K-9 units and drones were deployed in the area.
