I’ve always wondered how often animal rescuers get calls about emergencies that end up being something completely different, or not even animals at all.

These situations probably don’t happen every day, but they serve as a reminder of the compassion and effort that go into rescue work, even when things turn out a little unusual.

The incident we’re talking about today, however, wasn’t just a case of mistaken identity. For one rescue team in Colorado, it was downright bizarre.

They were in the middle of a routine workday when a call came in from a concerned passerby who believed they had spotted an injured pup on the side of the road. What the rescuers found when they arrived was nothing short of shocking.
