Oklahoma is one of the most religious states in the U.S. Residents pray daily more than others, attend services more frequently, and view religion as very important in their lives.

But rates are decreasing, according to a recent study.

Pew Research Center recently released its 2023-24 Religious Landscape Study , which was designed to paint a statistical portrait of religion in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

The religious makeup of Oklahoma is predominantly Christian (70%) and largely under an evangelical protestant denomination.

While the state remains mostly religious, there has been a downward trend since the first version of the survey in 2007. Then, 85% of the state identified as Christians, again largely of evangelical protestant denominations.
