A federal judge has extended a prior order temporarily blocking New Hampshire from enforcing a statewide ban on diversity, equity and inclusion practices in public school districts.

Earlier this month, U.S. District Court Judge Landya McCaffrey issued the order ahead of a state Department of Education deadline for all public school districts to certify they are complying with the ban or risk a significant loss of state government grants.

The temporary decision was scheduled to end at midnight on Sept. 19, but Judge McCaffrey extended the temporary restraining order through Oct. 2 at 11:59 p.m. or until the court issues an order granting or denying plaintiffs’ motion for a preliminary injunction.
