But with “The Strangers – Chapter 2,” Harlin takes on a different kind of challenge: expanding a home-invasion story into a tense, survival-driven horror that delves deeper into the mysterious killers at its center.

“The Strangers – Chapter 1” served as a remake of the 2008 original, introducing Maya (Madelaine Petsch) and Ryan (Froy Gutierrez), a couple who spend the night in a remote cabin only to be terrorized by masked intruders.
