LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - There is a low-end severe threat out for today as afternoon storms are forecasted to rumble into the Commonwealth.
Temps start pleasant with some broken clouds- as you head out the door, don’t be fooled by the calm conditions. Temps will warm into the low end of the 80s later today, but rounds of showers are in store.
Not everyone will get caught in our strong afternoon thunderstorms, but those who do will see some heavy rainfall. There is a low-end severe risk for our day today, with the storm prediction center saying the main concern will be damaging wind risks. The timing of these storms has them pushing into central Kentucky in the afternoon - with heavier rains reaching eastern Kentucky later in the evening.
The rest of this week promises more soaking rains.
