ROSS TWP. — After a four-day search in the Sweet Valley area for alleged child rapist Ryan McDermott, the Pennsylvania State Police say he was apprehended late Sunday.
McDermott, 40, of 172 Bronson Rd., Lake Township, was considered “armed and dangerous” after firearms and explosives were found at his residence when a search warrant was served, state police say.
Circumstances of McDermott’s apprehension have not been released.
McDermott was wanted by the Pittston Township Police Department on an arrest warrant charging him with raping a girl at several motels in the Wyoming Valley beginning in late June through August.
Court records allege McDermott recorded himself sexually assaulting the girl who was constrained during the assaults.
As of Monday morning, McDermott has not been taken
