PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — This afternoon a former North Kingstown High School basketball coach will find out if he will spend time behind bars.
Aaron Thomas was the coach who performed one-on-one fat tests on his players, with some of them naked.
Thomas denied any wrongdoing, saying that it was a legitimate program aimed at giving his players a competitive advantage and that players voluntarily participated.
He was found not guilty by a jury on the most serious charges against him , of child molestation and sexual assault, but he was found guilty on two lesser charges of simple battery.
Those charges, according to Thomas’ attorney, still carry up to a year in prison time, but have no mandatory minimum jail sentence.
