SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Norfolk Fire and Rescue were on the scene of a fire on Monday morning.
According to a release, crews were dispatched at 3:42 a.m. to a home on the 200 block of North 9th Street and found smoke on the exterior of the house.
The release states that the resident was alerted by the smoke detectors and reported the fire after exiting the home. He then took action by using a garden hose to attempt to extinguish the fire before the department arrived.
It took six firefighters and two rigs to extinguish the fire and overhaul the structure. The cause is currently under investigation.
The release noted that no one was injured during the incident; however, the home sustained $5,000 worth of damage.
Norfolk Fire and Rescue was assisted by the Norfolk Police Division.
