ST. LOUIS - Police are investigating after gunshots were fired towards officers Monday morning in west St. Louis.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD), the incident occurred on the 1600 block of Hampton Avenue.

Police say the incident happened after the suspect fired shots at officers, leading to them to return fire.

No one was injured during the shooting, SLMPD said. The suspect is in police custody.
