A new biography on frontiersman Adam "Horn" Miller, who pioneered regions of the Montana Territory during the 1863 gold rush, has been released.

“Horn: The Life and Times of a Pioneer Prospector,” by author Fred Woody, details Miller’s journey as an influential figure in the formation of Montana. He was a trapper, bullwhacker and scout for the U.S. Army, helping to develop Yellowstone National Park.

Woody spent over 10 years researching Horn using historical documents, newspaper archives, and local records. The book describes Miller’s years as a young riverboat hand on the Missouri River before joining the gold rushes in California, Nevada, Colorado and Montana.
