A draft list of legislative priorities in the upcoming Virginia General Assembly session recently was presented to the Nelson County Board of Supervisors.
David Blount, deputy director of the Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission (TJPDC), addressed the board at its September meeting. He spoke to the board about the state's financial outlook, changes to Medicaid eligibility and the effects of federal funding cuts posed to bring caution in the upcoming budget process.
“This is the third year we have come saying we’re going to be playing defense as local governments as it relates to land use, especially true last year with talks around energy, siting and solar facilities,” Blount told the board.
