OXNARD, Calif. (KABC) -- A fire broke out at an elementary school in Oxnard overnight, sending large plumes of smoke from the roof of a building.
The fire was reported around 3:13 a.m. Monday at Rose Avenue Elementary School on Driskill Street, according to the Ventura County Fire Department.
Firefighters arrived to find the older section of the school, which has been rebuilt or remodeled, engulfed in flames, officials said.
The extent of the damage to the school is not known.
Eyewitness News reached out to school officials to see if the fire will impact operations on campus.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
