Indiana State Police are investigating a Saturday shooting incident in New Chicago that left one person dead after shots were fired inside a residence on Huber Boulevard.

State police have described the incident as an "officer involved shooting." No officers were injured during the incident, ISP said in a press release.

State police said a preliminary investigation shows that Hobart Fire Department paramedics and New Chicago Police Department officers responded at 3:30 p.m. Saturday to a report of a deceased subject at the home in the 200 block of Huber Boulevard, which has a Hobart address but is in the town of New Chicago.
