A mother has been forced to jump through a window to escape her burning home with her own son alleging to witnesses he set it on fire over school fees.

Emergency services rushed to the Narellan Vale property, in Sydney’s west , just before 1pm on Monday to reports the home was engulfed in flames.

The 20-year-old man was tackled to the ground and handcuffed outside the home with witnesses telling 7NEWS he told them he allegedly started the fire because his parents wouldn’t pay for his TAFE course.

The blaze began when the man allegedly torched a car in the driveway just before 1pm.

The fire quickly spread to a caravan and then engulfed the house while his mother was still inside.

Dramatic footage showed the woman escaping through a window just in time as flames consumed the property.
