Various resources have been deployed to southern Alberta to aid in the search for a five-year-old boy who went missing Sunday morning.

RCMP say just after 11:30 a.m., officers in Crowsnest Pass received calls reporting Darius Macdougall disappeared while walking with his family.

The boy was last seen 2.5 miles south of Crowsnest Pass near Island Lake Campground, according to police.

He has a medical issue which may prevent him from responding to others.

RCMP and conservation officers are on scene, as well as searchers from multiple agencies including Search and Rescue teams in Alberta and B.C.

The searchers are being supported by drones, dogs, and helicopters.

Darius is four feet tall with short brown hair, and was last seen wearing a blue/grey hoodie and sweatpants.
