TOWN OF LORRAINE, N.Y. (WWTI) - A 16-year-old boy had his leg partially amputated after a Saturday dirt bike crash.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, the crash occurred around 12:45 p.m. Saturday afternoon on an ATV trail near the Hessel Road in the town of Lorraine.

The boy allegedly struck a fallen tree partially covering the trail, which partially amputated his lower leg.

The teen's parents, friends, and family attempted to locate the boy with a UTV as emergency personnel were being called to respond to the crash scene. Around 1:10 p.m., Jefferson County Sheriff's Deputy Ryan Snyder located the injured teen, applied a tourniquet, and helped remove the boy from the wooded area to a spot where emergency personnel were waiting.
