A suspect was shot by police following an hours-long standoff at an apartment building in Burlington, Vermont, on Sunday night.
The incident started around 11 a.m. on Riverside Avenue between Intervale Avenue and Bright Street, according to WPTZ . The building was evacuated and the road shut down.

Following a nine-hour standoff with police, the suspect exited the apartment after officers deployed tear gas canisters into the building.
Once the suspect was outside, police fired shots, and the suspect was hit multiple times. The suspect's condition was not immediately known.
As of Monday morning, some neighbors said they still hadn't been allowed back into their homes. No further details were released.
