TAYLORVILLE,Ill. (WAND) - Paw Print Ministries hosted a tailgate celebration Sunday marking the opening of their new hospital room where comfort dogs can bring cuddles to those in need.
"You can just see the stress go away from people when they are hugging my dog. I've had kids fall asleep on my dog, cry on my dog," said Board Member Judy Koshinki.
Faith, love and hope is the foundation of the organization. Founder, Jennifer Dahn says her dream started with one pup and has grown into a community initiative.
Now with the new hospital, dogs will be trained to work in an environment with a lot of medical equipment and not interrupt the patient.
"We've got 45 comfort dog teams that go out, and our job is to cheer people up when they're having a not so good day," Dahn said.
