PHILADELPHIA – Three seconds remained on the clock when Joshua Karty lined up for what could have been the game-winning field goal. The Los Angeles Rams kicker had 44 yards between him and a celebration with his teammates at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday, but Eagles defensive tackle Jordan Davis had other plans.
Karty had already seen one of his six field goal attempts blocked earlier in the fourth quarter by Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter . With the Rams (3-0) trailing 27-26 and Karty and the field goal unit being called to redeem themselves for the previous mishap, surely lightning wouldn’t strike twice with another blocked field goal. His kick would sail through the uprights to complete the comeback, right?
