Before Baker Mayfield was out here being a star for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he went through the NFL ringer: Traded by the Browns to the Panthers, released and claimed by the Rams, signed by the Bucs.

And after he beat the New York Jets on Sunday, Mayfield had a little revenge message for one of the former head coaches of those teams who put him through the ringer.

"Their [defensive] coordinator was the one who cut me in Carolina," Mayfield said. "A lot of stuff was personal today."

WHEW. He was referring to Steve Wilks, who was the head coach with the Panthers before he was released in 2022.

What's interesting is Panthers reporter Darin Gantt had this to say:

So maybe it was a little self motivation. Nothing wrong with that!
